Course Authoring Tools: Making Learning More Engaging

The foundation of any great online learning experience is strong course content.

Our Course Authoring tools are designed to give you the flexibility and power to create truly engaging and effective courses and we’ve been busy adding even more functionality based on your requests.

From Vimeo to the Learnworlds Video Library

We realized that many of you are using the Learnworlds video library instead of Vimeo so we’ve made a simple but significant change.

When you create a new video learning activity the default option for file source is now “From course video library” making the process more streamlined and intuitive.

It’s a small tweak but it makes a big difference!

Subtitles: Making Learning Accessible

We’re all about creating accessible and inclusive learning experiences and subtitles are an essential part of that.

Now students can choose their preferred subtitles for video lessons and the system remembers their selection applying it to all videos.

This ensures a smoother and more personalized learning experience for everyone.

Question Banks: No More Repetitive Questions

For assessments and exams you can now create a question bank and randomly assign questions to learners.

Previously students who failed a question would see a different set of questions on a retake.

But now you can choose to deliver the same questions on retakes simplifying the process and providing students with a clear understanding of their progress.

Point-Based Grading: More Flexibility in Assessment

We’ve added a new option to view student grades in points instead of percentages.

This is especially useful for courses where you assign different weights to different questions allowing for more accurate and detailed evaluation.

Exporting Assessment Statuses: Gaining a Clearer Picture of Student Engagement

Now you can see “abandoned” and “unfinished” statuses on assessment exports.

This provides a clearer picture of student engagement and helps you identify potential issues with course design or student motivation.

  • Abandoned Status: This status appears when a student fails an exam and doesn’t return within the auto-recovery period. It also applies if a student leaves mid-assessment without enabling interruptions leading to a 0 grade upon their return.
  • Unfinished Status: This status arises when a student leaves an assessment doesn’t return before the auto-recovery time expires and hasn’t revisited the assessment.

Course Expiration in Years: Tailoring Your Courses to Different Needs

For courses like compliance training that need to be available for extended periods you can now set course expiration in years.

This gives you more flexibility in managing your courses and ensuring they remain relevant for your target audience.

Ebook Links: A Smoother Learning Journey

Ebooks are a great way to organize and deliver course content and we’ve made it easier for students to navigate between ebooks and other course activities.

You can now choose to open links to ebooks in the same window allowing learners to continue their learning journey seamlessly without interruption.

Code Widgets: Enhanced Code Visualization

If you’re teaching coding this update is for you! You can now add code widgets to ebooks allowing students to visualize real code.

And to make it even easier for them to practice we’ve included a copy button so they can quickly copy the code and test it themselves.

We’ve also added SQL as a supported programming language for your code widgets.

Gamification Badges: Adding a Touch of Fun

Gamification can be a powerful tool for boosting student engagement and motivation.

LearnWorlds offers predefined digital badges that students can earn for social engagement and achievements and now you can customize these badges by changing their names descriptions and images.

While the award conditions can’t be edited yet this new level of customization adds a personal touch to the gamification experience.

Deleting Multiple Videos: Keeping Your Library Organized

Keeping your video library organized is essential and we’ve made the process even easier.

You can now select multiple videos and delete them all at once saving you time and effort.

Site Builder: Creating Stunning and Functional Websites

Our Site Builder empowers you to create beautiful and professional websites without any coding experience.

We’ve implemented several new features based on your feedback to make the site building process even more intuitive and powerful.

Search Engine Visibility and Course Pricing Control: Managing Your Online Presence

You now have the power to exclude your school from search engines keeping it hidden from public view until you’re ready to launch.

This gives you control over your school’s online presence and allows you to polish your website before it goes live.

You can also choose to exclude prices from course metadata.

This prevents potential students from being put off by the cost before they’ve had a chance to learn about the course and its benefits.

Social Media Icon Customization: Strengthening Your Brand Identity

As part of our commitment to providing fully branded websites you can now personalize your social media icons even further with a color picker.

This allows you to align your website’s design with your brand colors creating a cohesive and professional look across all platforms.

Targeted Sections and Widgets: Creating Personalized Experiences

Imagine rewarding your top students with a discount coupon for your premium courses.

Now you can create sections and widgets in your Site Builder that are visible only to specific tagged users like your top students.

You can also set a timeframe for these sections and widgets to be visible ensuring they automatically disappear when the offer ends.

Custom Sign-Up Fields: Gathering Vital Information

Custom sign-up fields allow you to collect additional information from students when they enroll such as their company birthday or any other details that are important for your business.

You can use this information to create targeted communications offer special coupons or even send physical products.

And now you can use these custom sign-up fields as variables in your communications including automation emails notifications emails and website content.

This opens up a world of possibilities for personalized and effective engagement.

User Automations: Streamlining Your Workflow

User Automations allow you to automate tasks and processes related to users saving you time and effort.

Synchronous and Asynchronous Automation Execution: Balancing Speed and Functionality

Now you can choose whether an automation should execute synchronously (in real-time) or asynchronously (in the background). Asynchronous execution is generally faster allowing for a smoother user experience.

However synchronous execution is necessary for situations where the automation needs to be executed before the user can proceed to the next step.

This saves you time and effort helping you quickly navigate through your automation library.
