Welcome to Hub Europe

Alright friend you wanna hear about Contabo’s new data center Hub Europe? It’s a big deal and I’m excited to share all the juicy details with you.

Let’s dive right in!

This data center sounds ridiculously cool, but I gotta know more about the prices! 🤯 Check out Contabo’s pricing and see for yourself

A Data Center With A Big Footprint And Even Bigger Ambitions

First off Hub Europe is seriously huge.

We’re talking about 25600 square meters – that’s roughly the size of four football fields! And that’s just Building 1 which is already up and running.

They’re planning a total of six buildings with a whopping 9.6 MW of IT load.

Imagine they can fit up to 50000 physical servers in this place.

That’s a lot of data! They’ve designed it with N+1 redundancy which means they’ve got backup systems in place for everything.

This is serious stuff folks aiming for a 99.982% uptime which is pretty much the gold standard for Tier 3 data centers.

Now let’s talk about the location.

It’s a strategic choice.

They’ve picked a spot that offers excellent connectivity throughout Europe and the rest of the world.

Think two fiber optic lines one heading north and one heading south both connected to different internet exchange points.

They’ve also partnered with two Tier 1 uplink providers each providing two redundant 100 Gigabit lines.

These lines are going to be beefed up as the traffic increases which is a smart move.

They’ve even got a team of seasoned professionals on site with 20+ years of experience in data center operations.

They’re there 24/7 to handle any issues that might arise.

Powering Up Hub Europe: A Reliable Source Of Energy

Here’s where things get interesting.

You know how important power is for a data center right? Well Hub Europe is right next to a power transformer station ensuring a steady and reliable flow of electricity from the grid.

They have two separate power lines coming in just in case one goes down.

And they’ve got that redundancy built-in all the way from the transformers down to the server racks.

You’ve got your UPS systems and a diesel generator so even if both power lines go out they’ve got backup for days.

They even did extensive load bank testing before launch pushing the system to its limits to make sure everything works like a well-oiled machine.

Keeping Things Cool: A Smart Solution

Now let’s talk about cooling.

That’s crucial for data centers and they’ve got a clever system in place.

They’re using direct-free-cooling where cool air flows through the raised floor and into the server racks.

The hot air goes out through the hot aisles and eventually outside the building.

The roof is designed to help with this allowing the hot air to escape away from the servers.

This method uses less energy than traditional ventilation systems reducing power consumption by up to 60%. They’ve got 36 compressors ready to step in if the outside air isn’t cool enough.

This clever approach makes Hub Europe one of the most energy-efficient data centers in Europe.

They’re talking about a PUE of 1.168. That means for every 1 kW of power used by the servers they need 1.168 kW total with the extra 0.1168 kW mostly going towards cooling.

It’s a fantastic efficiency score.

A Commitment To Sustainability

It’s not just about efficiency though.

Hub Europe is powered by 100% carbon-free energy.

Talk about a commitment to sustainability! They’ve also installed solar panels on each building which add up to over 300 kWp.

That’s a lot of clean energy! They’re even going for ISO 50001 certification which proves their energy efficiency to the world.

Safety First: Prepared For Anything

Now let’s talk safety.

They’re serious about protecting your data and their infrastructure.

They did a thorough study on potential natural disasters in the area before even starting construction.

They’ve got fire alarms and nitrogen fire extinguishers plus fireproof doors to prevent flames from spreading.

They’ve raised the floor by 1.2 meters and have a high-performance pump to handle a 300-year flood which is impressive.

They’ve even got flood gates on hand just in case on top of the local government’s flood prevention measures.

Lightning protection is also in place according to international standards.

And of course they’ve got top-notch physical security measures but I can’t tell you too much about those – it’s a secret!

The Future Is Here: Building 1 And Beyond

Building 1 is already fully operational and serving customers with over 20000 instances running.

Buildings 2 and 3 are scheduled to come online in 2025. This is a massive project and they’re moving quickly!

With Hub Europe Contabo is making a big statement about their commitment to reliability security and sustainability.

This is exciting news for their customers who will benefit from better performance and redundancy at the same wallet-friendly prices.

Keep an eye out for more updates on their social media channels.

It’s going to be an exciting ride!
