It’s been a wild ride so far.
You know me always chasing the next big thing.
This time I’m headfirst into the world of niche travel websites aiming to build a site from scratch that generates a consistent $8333 per month in profit.
My ultimate goal? Sell it on Empire Flippers for a cool $250000 to $350000.

The Niche: A Balancing Act

Choosing the right niche is a must.
It’s like picking the perfect travel destination – you want something that sparks your interest but also has potential for profit.
For this project I landed on a niche that’s somewhere between broad and specific.
You see the wider the niche the greater the potential income.
But it also means battling a sea of competitors and creating a mountain of content.
I prefer to go a couple of levels up from a narrow niche creating space for growth and tons of content opportunities.
Think about it like this:
Pets > Dogs > Handbag Dogs > Chihuahua
I’d pick “Handbag Dogs” – a specific enough niche to attract a focused audience but not so narrow that it limits my content options.
The Strategy: A 50/50 Split
My strategy is straightforward – a 50/50 mix of affiliate content and informative articles.
This gives me a well-rounded approach catering to both those seeking a quick fix and those looking for in-depth information.
I’m aiming for 100 to 300 articles within the first three months enough to get the Google rankings going.
This means competitor research is key – understanding what’s already out there and how I can differentiate myself.
Building Links: The Foundation of Success
Once the site is live it’s all about building those links – those little digital connections that tell Google my site is worth a look.
I’ll focus on foundational links – high-quality relevant links from authoritative websites in my niche.
HARO submissions are also in the mix – that’s where I pitch my expertise to journalists and bloggers looking for sources.
The Site Setup: Simple and Efficient
I’m keeping the site setup lean and mean – no fancy bells and whistles just the essentials.
My weapon of choice? GeneratePress and Generate Blocks.
This setup coupled with pre-saved themes and plugins takes about 20 minutes – a breeze compared to building everything from scratch.
Cloudways hosts the whole operation ensuring smooth sailing.
The Cost Breakdown: Where the Money Goes
Content is my biggest expense.
I’m hiring writers paying them between $25 and $50 per article (not per word).
Everything else from the theme to the hosting is relatively low-cost.
My main focus is on crafting high-quality engaging content that draws in a dedicated audience.
The First Steps: A Focus on Keywords
The initial phase is all about keywords – carefully choosing those search terms that will lead potential readers to my site.
Think of it like building a foundation – strong and solid keywords are the cornerstone of successful SEO.
I’ll be deep into keyword research analyzing competition and crafting content that speaks directly to those searching for travel information.
The Future: Stay Tuned
This is just the beginning of the journey.
In the next post I’ll dive deeper into specific strategies like content creation link building and traffic generation.
Stay tuned and remember this is a public experiment.
I’ll be sharing every detail – the wins the losses and everything in between.
