They’re like little islands of knowledge in the vast ocean of the internet full of people who are passionate about the same things I am.

I’ve been using Slack for a while now and I’ve found it to be an amazing resource for connecting with other designers.
I’ve learned so much from these groups and I’ve also made some great connections that have led to collaborations and new opportunities.
There are so many different Slack groups out there it can be overwhelming to know where to start.
So I thought I’d share some of my favorites.

This group is a real gem.
It’s a community of marketers designers developers writers creatives and strategists all coming together to share their passion.
I love how they encourage collaboration and learning.
And their website is a goldmine of resources.
You can find everything from design inspiration to marketing tips to business advice.
2. UX Collective
For designers who are passionate about user experience the UX Collective Slack group is a must-join.
It’s a thriving community with over 5800 members and it’s a great place to get feedback on your work learn new UX techniques and connect with other UX professionals.
3. Dribbble
I know you’re probably thinking “Dribbble has a Slack channel?” Yes they do! And it’s actually quite active with over 10000 members.
It’s a great place to stay up-to-date on the latest design trends get feedback on your work and connect with other designers.
4. Designer Hangout
This is a great group for designers who are looking for freelance work or just want to connect with other designers.
It’s a smaller group than some of the others but it’s very active and friendly.
It’s also a great place to find inspiration and learn about new design tools.
5. Make WordPress
You might be thinking “Why join a WordPress group? I’m a designer!” But hear me out.
The Make WordPress Slack channel is a great way to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to WordPress development.
It’s a great resource for learning about the latest WordPress updates and discovering new training resources.
And it’s a great place to connect with other WordPress professionals.
6. Online Geniuses
This group is for anyone who wants to learn about internet marketing.
They have great discussions about everything from SEO to social media marketing to content marketing.
It’s a great place to connect with marketing experts and learn from their experience.
7. Silicon Prairie
This is a great group for anyone who lives in or near the Midwest.
It’s a vibrant community of tech enthusiasts from all experience levels.
It’s a great place to connect with other tech professionals learn about new technologies and find out about tech events in the area.
8. Workfrom
I love this group for its focus on the remote worker experience.
It’s a great community for designers who are freelancers or who travel frequently.
Workfrom is a website that helps you find co-working spaces and their Slack channel is a great place to connect with other remote workers find out about new co-working spaces and get tips for working remotely.
Finding Your Design Tribe
There are so many incredible Slack groups out there for designers I could keep listing them forever.
But the most important thing is to find the groups that are right for you.
Think about what you’re looking for in a Slack group.
Are you looking for a group that’s focused on a specific design discipline like UX or visual design? Or are you looking for a group that’s more general like a group for freelancers or a group for designers who are interested in tech?
Once you know what you’re looking for you can start searching for groups on Slack.
