Screen Recording on Windows 10: Unleash the Xbox Game Bar!
you’ve probably heard of the Xbox Game Bar.
It’s not just for gamers my friend! This built-in Windows 10 tool is a total screen recording powerhouse and it’s completely free.

Hit the Windows key and G simultaneously.
Boom! The Xbox Game Bar pops up – don’t let all the options overwhelm you; you’ll find a small unassuming “Record” section usually top-left.
There’s an icon for screenshots (snappy pics of your screen) and another for video recordings.
It’s intuitive and I almost always use the keyboard shortcut Windows + Alt + R.
It’s like magic!
Going Beyond the Basics: Audio and More!
This is where things get even cooler.
If you’ve got a microphone hooked up (or a webcam with a mic) you can record audio alongside your screen capture.
This is awesome for tutorials presentations or even just showing someone how to do something on your computer.
Imagine being able to explain that complex spreadsheet formula while they watch you do it.
Pure awesomeness man!
Once you’re done recording your masterpiece will be waiting for you in C:Users<YourUserName>VideosCaptures
. The file format is usually MP4 – super standard and easy to share.
But the folder location can be annoying so maybe try setting up a specific folder for these recordings? It might save you some headaches later.
Also there’s a million and one ways to improve the quality of your audio and video recordings.
To exit the Xbox Game Bar just press the Escape key.
Simple right? I mean the ease of this thing is amazing! It makes me wish all software was this simple and straightforward.
Mastering macOS Screen Recording: QuickTime Player to the Rescue!
Now let’s switch gears to macOS.
QuickTime Player isn’t just for playing videos you know? It’s a sneaky good screen recorder too.
It’s already on your Mac so no downloads or installations are needed.
Find QuickTime Player in your Launchpad (the little rocket icon in your Dock). Open it up then navigate to “File” in the menu bar.
You’ll see “New Screen Recording.” Click that bad boy.
